A broad coalition of community, business, and civic organizations, listed below, have come together to sponsor a food giveaway event at Perkins Homes on December 23 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Baltimore City is in the process of demolishing the site and rebuilding over the next few years. An End to Ignorance (AETI), a community-based group that aims to increase understanding among Baltimore residents through professionally facilitated group experiences, spearheads this effort to take the load off of Perkins Homes residents during the holiday season.
The organizations will be giving away turkeys, hundreds of pounds of fruit and vegetables, bread, canned goods and other items.
J.C. Faulk, an OSI-Baltimore Fellow and the founder of Circles of Voices, LLC and An End to Ignorance, Inc. brought this group together to show that we could stand for Perkins Homes and our city during the holiday season and beyond. It demonstrates that empthy can lead to direct action related to filling the gaps between what city residents need and what they have.
